How Much Fun Can Be Had in One Boise Weekend?!

Dear Daughter is having a campout with me in Lucky (the RV) as we attempt to cram maximum activity into one brief Boise weekend. Yesterday was frenetic.

See Barb — Capella DOES have a unicorn horn!

A certain small human is turning FIVE this month and so the birthday party started at 7 a.m.

Yes, we had cake and ice cream at 7 a.m.

And then it was Trader Joe’s before going back to the dog show and then a quick visit with the Heintzbergers before going back on Grandma/Auntie Duty — Dear Daughter and I were asleep by 8 pm!

This is Dear Daughter with Sparkle and three of Sparkle’s grandchildren: Capella, Atlas, and Dallas Nova Jr.

Popcorn was very popular!

It is hard to get photos of big puppies who are so happy to see each other — this is Dallas Nova Jr. posing well while the other two decided it was a good time to wrestle…

We also got to see newly ten-year-old Heidi Heidi!

The show is going well. Sparkle — at 8+ years old — finished her AXP (an excellent-level agility title) and Bright Star Capella was Reserve on Friday and this was yesterday…

Sparkle was entered in agility on other days but we came for that title and one less thing to do seemed like a good plan so we are skipping the other runs. Capella shows again this morning (plus more Grandma/Aunt stuff and Spa Day for Daisy) and then we scatter.

I hope you are cramming maximum fun into your weekend! — or maybe just taking a nap?!

A Bright Star in Arizona

Capella continues to win her class while having Big Fun. I have so enjoyed seeing friends again — dog shows are as much about the humans who show up as they are about the dogs we show off.

Bright Star Sage (Mirak) is awaiting his turn in the show ring…

Thank you, Kay and Sue!

Thank you, Kay and Sue!

Winter is a prime show season in Arizona and a great time to take a break from Montana. If I travel to Arizona to both escape winter and show dogs, would that make me a Show Bird?

Round-Up

Capella won her class yesterday and had fun. The judge observed that Capella did the go around the fastest of any of the dogs that had been in the ring thus far, and wondered if Capella thought it was a race?

Capella: “Why, YES! I do think it is a race.”

Isn’t it wonderful that she has such happy puppy energy in the show ring?!

The really awesome news from the show is that Moonshadow Daddy, Pippin, finished his Championship. He seriously looked amazing — what a lovely dog with flawless movement and a fantastic temperament. That made him a BMDCA Versatility Dog — we send our congratulations to his humans. Strong Work, Team Pippin!

And speaking of strong work and Moonshadows, Mike and Patty — first time Berner owners — got themselves some thinning shears and attacked Porter’s ears!

And okay, yes — apparently they also attacked Mike’s finger — but that will heal!

I was so proud when I got that photo — thank you so much to Mike and Patty for embracing Life with a Berner. Great Job, Team Porter (except the finger part, of course!).

Half-brother to the Moonshadows is Wildflower, Kitsap…

Too cool for school is Bright Star Atlas…

I double dog dare you to march through today with an Atlas Attitude!
