Working Dogs

One of the positive aspects of occasionally breeding Berners is celebrating amazing accomplishments that happen because a great dog was placed with the exact right human. Yesterday was such a day.

Tristan, one of the iPups (Fil x Zoey), completed his Utility Dog title yesterday with his supremely talented trainer/human, Alison; he also earned High Combined at the trial and his first UDX leg. [I know this is new stuff to some and so click HERE to read about AKC obedience.]

Tristan’s registered name now goes something like this: GCH CH PACH Kaibab's Invitation To The Dance VCD2 UD MXP5 MXPS MJP4 MJPB PAX XFP ANDD MDD ABNDD. Wowza.

Congratulations to Team Tristan!

Tristan is Sparkle’s littermate, and so is great-uncle to the Bright Stars. He is also closely related to the Moonshadows on both sides of their pedigree. Bright Star Zuber Heze (and Sparkler Kiri) share their lives with Tristan and his humans, Alison and Tom.

Just getting started are Moonshadows Obi Hunter and Porter Buck, who are attending a puppy class together…

I love that the brothers get to see each other!

Obi also got to visit with his canine dad, Pippin!

The Boise Area Crew is growing, and it also includes two Bright Stars. Cindy shared that a large family dinner was no big deal for Bright Stars Atlas Sun…

Also doing well — Bright Star Tobie James…

I am so grateful for the photos and updates — thank you!

Since we decided to go to the National Specialty in May, we are in high training gear around here. Daisy will finally get to be in a draft test…

Sparkle will also be competing in various things…

It is wonderful to be in training mode again.

Happy Sunday to you!

Claire, Nails, Facebook

Claire’s surgery went well — she was home by 3 pm and glad about that…

Claire post surgery.jpg

The surgeon said it will likely be 5 - 6 months before Claire is back in in shape for her normal life. I could choose to be morose about how long this is going to take but instead — isn’t it great that we can look forward to a return to normal life for her?

And more good news — swimming is recommended as part of the rehab and Claire LOVES to swim.

Today’s Puppy Tip is a literal one — don’t forget to trim toenails!

Capella close.jpg

You can use human toenail clippers at this age. Smear some peanut butter or cream cheese on a plate or lid — have one person hold that for the puppy while the other person snips. Just clip the area above the pink quick — see Capella’s nail on the inside right for an example of one that needs trimming.

Easy Peasy — and don’t forget the front dewclaws.

Something else — if you are on Facebook and did not yet get an invitation to join the group for Bright Stars and Moonshadows, send me an email or search for it on Facebook. We would love to have everyone join who wants to — including friends of the two litters.

Have a terrific day!
