Sparklers Abbie and Zimmer are spending the holidays together 🎄
Zimmer’s humans are the parents of one of Abbie’s humans — did you follow that? A visual might help — this is Sparkler Abbie getting love from two of her humans, Ashlee and Hal.
Ashlee’s parents, Kathy and Jack, own Zimmer. So Hal and his sister are Kathy and Jack’s grandchildren.
Ashlee is super busy right now — she is an actress and currently in rehearsals for her role as a lead in Gaslight. You can click HERE if you are in/near Kansas City and want to see the show! Her husband and parents are helping out and yes — it is exhausting.
Kathy sends along this update: “Abbie is a beautiful, perfect dog for Ashlee’s family. She is kind, loving, and very gentle with the kids. She is loved very much by Ashlee, Todd, Hal and Ellie. Abbie wishes all her litter mates a Happy Birthday and very Merry Christmas.”
Thank you, Team Abbie! What a well-loved life she has ❤️
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBIE!
And last but most definitely not least — Tony sends us this update about Sparkler ZeD:
“It’s been an uneventful year and to us that’s good news these days.
ZeD reached the veteran status and that was celebrated at our annual holiday party organized by the NorCal BMD Club.
We try to go out every day even when the weather doesn’t cooperate. We haven’t found any money on our walks since Nikko left.
Late last year ZeD found a kitten up a tree across the street from the house and now Zelda is his partner-in-crime.
Happy Birthday to all Sparklers!”
I love that every year Tony and Brody take their dogs to visit snow in the Sierras ❤️☃️ Just one of many things they do to make life wonderful for their beloved dogs — thank you 🙏
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZeD!!!
Today we have a birthday update from Alison:
"Veteran, Shmeteran" says Ms Kiri. "Veterans are OLD and I am NOT old. I am in my prime!" [An aside - did you know that until 1999 Berners were considered veterans at the age of six?]
Browsing through Kiri's puppy pictures I was reminded that she was a very grey puppy. So fun to watch my baby grey goose grow into Princess Kiri.
Kiri at 4 months playing with her uncle, iPup Tristan
Kiri artfully balances bouncy busy with ultra relaxed. This fall she learned the game of offering behaviors, as well as learning new behaviors to offer. She delights in this game, throwing behaviors in rapid succession with a giant grin on her face. She spins, twists, bounces, prances, backs, scoots, and leaps, tail wagging furiously, all with a "What can you do?" or a questioning look from me. Together we have been exploring the world of on line training courses, gradually adding new games to our repertoire and adapting and adjusting old games in ways that please us both. Those last words are key, "In ways that please us both". We are partners in our dances and games. I laugh with her a LOT.
Kiri excels at couch and bed cuddles and regularly tries to overwhelm me with a deluge of licking. She loves to leap up for hugs at full stretch. Wrestling and racing with her baby brother Zuber (a Bright Star) are daily recreation and she diligently schools his respect for members of the opposite sex.
Kiri was sure her birthday cake was a set up and refused to look at it but definitely knew what to do when it was transferred to her dish. Yummy raspberries!
VERY clever — and healthy!
Happy Birthday to all the Sparklers. Sending hugs and memories to Tika's whole family.”
Thank you to Alison, Tom, Tristan and Zuber for Kiri’s wonderful and interesting and well-loved life.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kiri!
