Montana Moonshadows Turn Three

This video of Moonshadow Maple is just a perfect way to start these two Montana Moonshadow updates!

Adri sends us this birthday update about Maple:

“Happy Birthday to the Moonshadows! Our Maple spent the day playing with cousin pups and “watching” football.

Maple continues to be a very loving and affectionate sweet girl who wants nothing more than to be in your space getting some pets or a squeeze.

We’ve been on some fun adventures over the last year, and Maple is decisively in love with doing anything her people are doing (and not ever left behind).

Maple continues to be a Momma’s girl, following me anywhere I go, including into the restroom, like a typical toddler who doesn’t want to separate for even a moment.

Her next favorite person is Sawyer (our 4-year-old son), who is very free with his hugs, pets, and sometimes dinner snacks. Sawyer and Maple went through potty training together three years ago, so it is very special to see their bond as they grow up together.

Unfortunately, they are always so fast on the go, it is almost impossible to get a good picture of them together!

❤️

Our quirky girl also has a preference for nice cool hardwood floors over a soft dog bed any day.

😂

😂😂

😂😂😂

As for my clinical practice, in the last year it has been amazing to watch Maple connect with people who are hurting, and intuit exactly what people are needing before they even know to ask.

She brings regulation, ease, an excuse to get outside in the middle of the work day, and helps me create a very safe space for my clients and colleagues.

Happy Birthday to our beautiful and loving Maple and to all the Moonshadows!”

Thank you, Adri and family, for Maple’s perfect life ❤️ HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAPLE!!

Moonshadow Merlin is also having a wonderful Montana life — Megan sends us this update:

“Merlin has been growing into a very wonderful family dog this past year. We have seen him happily fall into our seasonal rhythms and he’s an integral part of our family.  He still gets his zoomies (especially in fresh snow) and continues to chase his tail regularly.  He never misses a meal and politely reminds us if we are not 5 minutes early for meal time.

One of his absolute favorite activities is to hike on the trails in the mountains around Bozeman. He has become a trustworthy trail companion with very reliable recall. He always stays right with me on trails and is polite with other humans and dogs.  Sometimes he hikes so close to my heels that I need to make sure he doesn’t trip me!  It’s such a pleasure to adventure with him.

He loves the water and he’s often wet from the creek and river crossings on our hikes.

He absolutely loves the snow and was in heaven with our big winter last year. His skills in shoveling snow, however, leave something to be desired.

😂

Merlin also loves taking walks around our neighborhood and has very polite leash manners. He reminds me of Daisy in that he has to be carrying his leash in his mouth on walks!

Merlin is a gentle giant with his human brother and sister and truly loves his people. We are so grateful to have him in our lives and with all the Moonshadows a very happy birthday!!”

Such a fun and happy and adventuresome life! Thank you, Megan, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERLIN!!

Moonshadow Birthday Continues

We have updates today from two more of the Moonshadows boys — Andy and Porter. You sure can tell they are brothers!

Jasen sends us this update from Texas:

“Andy is doing well.  He has been focusing on Obedience.  On Tuesdays Andy is in an Open Class and then a Beginner Utility, and on Saturdays he does a Foundation’s II class.  We did complete at Glen Rose, Texas in January.

Andy enjoys his walks with the neighborhood dogs in the morning and can always be caught clowning around in the Thursday Pictures.

Andy is lots of fun to be around and does well with other dogs.”

Jasen’s fun-to-follow Thursday photos are on Facebook. Good job, Andy, and thank you, Jasen, for Andy’s fun life 🎉 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!!!!

Mike and Patty send us this update from Boise:

“Porter says Happy Birthday to his siblings ❤️ This kid has soooo many facial expressions.

From tapping me on my arm or leg for breakfast or dinner to putting his head on the l lounge chair foot rest.

I need to mention that he likes to stand on his head in front of us needing his rear end scratched. [Editor’s Note: 😂😂😂]

This time of year he loves to lay in the snow then come in and sit with his human mom.

He loves to stand on his back legs and give his mom a huge Berner hug. 🥰

Thanks for all the joy ❤️”

Thank you two for being such a happy home for that wonderful boy 🙏 HAPPY BIRTHDAY PORTER!!!!

MOONSHADOWS are THREE!

We begin this Moonshadow birthday by resting our hearts and minds on the one who had to leave: Margie. Such a heartbreaking loss for Toby 💔 No one should have to bid farewell to such a young dog. There are no words to express the sorrow I feel that Margie has left.

We live our lives in that bittersweet place where our losses meet our joys. I think it is important not to let one cause us to forget the other but rather to let that tension between the two remind us always to appreciate the life we have — right now.

And today that means we remember Margie and feel her loss — and we celebrate.

Let’s begin in Boise with this update from Linda:

“Obi is a very affectionate, expressive and cheerful boy. He is thoughtful, sensitive, and funny.

We do think he might’ve spent a bit too much time with Rosebud as he hates being wet/dirty and spends a lot of time licking and grooming himself. And he is very fond of cats.

We were lucky to have a few trips this year and happy that Obi is a great traveler. We went to a very dog friendly place on the Washington coast.

Obi loved the beach, hiking in the woods and was very good lying quietly on restaurant patios while we ate and everyone stopped by for a pet.

When not sitting on our feet or being a lap dog he is out watching the world go by our front gate.

He studies everyone and everything silently, until a person or dog that he knows appears— then it’s up and barking a greeting. He even recognizes them if in their cars!”

Rosebud approves of this Moonshadow update! Thank you, Linda, for the laugh and for Obi’s well-loved life. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OBI!

Obi’s humans are friends with Scout’s human and so lets celebrate their friendship by including Scout’s birthday today as well. Laurie send us this update from the Seattle area:

“Scouty is living his very best life in his new beach community.

He absolutely LOVES running like a wild man on the beach any chance he gets.

He also loves living with his 1+ year old cousin, Scooby, a mini Bernerdoodle who has an over abundance of energy and they play, play, play!

Jax on the other hand is less enthusiastic and enjoys moments to himself when the other two are chasing each other in the back yard or when he gets to go for special walks on his own.

Scout is the most affectionate, happy, smart, curious and lovable Berner I have ever had. I truly feel we communicate on a level known only to us.

I love nothing more than when he flops on top of me (ignoring any personal space whatsoever) and flips on his back and smiles up at me.

He brings me so much love and joy and cracks me up on daily basis. He is one of the best things to ever happen to me and love him will all my heart.

I can’t believe they are 3!!!   They can stop having birthdays now please.  Happy Birthday to all the fellow Moonshadows, I’m sure your “moonies” bring you as much joy as my Scouty does.”

Moonies?! 😂

Thank you, Laurie! What a fun life Scout is enjoying — HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOUT!!
