Greetings from Puppy Grand Central, where it takes almost four hours to drink 1.5 cups of coffee…
The Moonshadows continue to hold relatively steady on their weights. I switched to the precise scientific scale so I can more carefully track their weights…
They are all nursing well and Daisy’s milk is definitely coming in as evidenced by the puppies’ responses as they feed. I am doing before and after feeding weigh-in to ensure they are getting milk — so far, so good.
This is Andy — his name is indeed a moon reference but Toby will have to explain…
We are still doing the five on/five off method of feeding the Moonshadows, switching about every hour around the clock.
And yes, Daisy is a VERY tolerant dog.
Rosebud likes to assist with the Bright Stars as well — but only when Claire is outside. Smart Girl, that Rosebud. Claire is protective of her babies.
Look at how Rosebud has herded the Bright Stars neatly into a Puppy Pile…
Well done, Rosebud!
Sun has been working hard to take back the Heavyweight crown…
But Orion has been training hard as well…
…and so he retains the title of Heavyweight Champion of the Whelping Box at 3.06 pounds.
“All this training is exhausting,” Orion reports…
Claire says, “I’ll tell you what is exhausting!”
Nova is the biggest girl — she is just a wee bit under three pounds.
We got the DM results back yesterday and as expected, we have 50% Clear and 50% Carriers. Again, Carrier means nothing in terms of a dog’s health or future risk — only “at-risk” dogs develop DM.
Because we have Dianne in our midst — and she is a BernerGarde Operator — both litters are already in BernerGarde. Thank you, Dianne!
The Moonshadows are BG Litter #56768.
The Bright Stars are BG Litter #56732.
Look them up and see if you can find their common ancestor in their pedigrees. The two litters are cousins.
Have a fun Saturday!
