That is a REALLY big deal, and I am just thrilled for Team Ferguson — his owners, his breeder, his handler. They are all super people who are deserving of Ferguson’s success.
Ferguson was selected as the father of Claire’s litter for reasons other than Big Ass Ribbons — in fact, when the deal to breed the two dogs was made, Ferguson wasn’t actually being shown much. Rather, he was selected for his pedigree and physical attributes that would complement Claire and — similar to why Pippin is the father of the Moonshadows — Ferguson was tapped for his wonderful temperament and working aptitude.
Sometimes we chase down top winning dogs to sire litters — that is not how it went down with the Bright Stars. Somehow that reality makes Ferguson’s incredible success so much sweeter. It is like an extra layer of frosting on an already awesome cake — plus a few scoops of ice cream on the side. For someone that appreciates good frosting (i.e. me), this is all pretty darn fun.
