Natural Distraction

It is easy to forget that dog training opportunities are everywhere — all the time. In fact, 99.9% of dog training happens in our small daily interactions with our dogs.

I took advantage of an opportunity to train on a walk this morning. Could Claire do a recall — and a decent front — with an audience? See for yourself.

Claire very slightly anticipates the “come” cue but I ignored that — the “work” of this micro session was ignoring the distraction and doing a nice, square front (sitting directly in front of me). I supported the front with cheerful extra “come, come” because I had upped the distraction level.

The result was awesome — she ignored the distraction and she did a very lovely front. High value cookies resulted and then we continued along with our walk ⭐️🍪

Happy Training to you!
