Laurie and Linda are two long-time Berner owners and close friends. How fun that they have littermates now! Linda and Mike live with Obi (fka Hunter) and Laurie has Scout (fka Arche). Let’s catch up with these two today…

Laurie shares, “On March 28, 2021 I received an incredible gift...my Scouty. He came into my life right at the exact moment I needed him.

His goofy, affectionate, kind spirit and unconditional love healed me at a time I needed healing. He has brought me so much joy and laughter. His big brother Jax might have a different opinion though. I think he thought this overly excited puppy was just a temporary thing but he finally gave in and they get along great.

Scout is everything I’ve ever hoped for in a Berner. He is always happy and excited for anything. He is incredibly affectionate and cuddly - although I don’t know if you’d consider laying all 92lbs. of him on top of you cuddly - but I love it anyway! He has a very easy going temperament.

He is a little wary when people come over, whether he knows them or not, but it only takes a couple of minutes for him to realize they are not a threat and then he throws his body against their legs, (wagging his tail at full speed) or walks through them and becomes the center of attention.

He was easy to train and eager to please. He is so SMART! I’ve had a bond with all my Berners where we have a non-verbal communication and I swear they know what you’re saying when you talk to them! Scout likes to communicate with his paws. When he wants something, there is a giant paw on my leg, shoulder, head (when I’m in bed) and big brown eyes looking at my pleading with me to understand what he wants. Although it’s pretty easy with him, it’s always food.

He is insatiable when it comes to food. I’ve never had such a hungry Berner! Everyday, around 6:30-7am, I wake up to him standing over me, pawing me on the shoulder or arm or laying on me letting me know he’s ready for breakfast. Then begins our day with my freckle-nose waggle-butt.I couldn’t love him anymore, he is perfect.”

I will tell you what is perfect — THAT PHOTO!!! #winner

Thank you, Laurie — and HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOUT!!!!

Reporting from Boise, Linda updates us about Obi…

Obi has always been cheerful, intelligent, and playful.

Obi loves going out, hates wearing anything— we’ve tried multiple harnesses and collars to no avail, at least once we get one on and get walking he’s ok :)

He spends a lot of time observing his surroundings, whether at home, in the car, or out on walks. It’s really interesting for us to watch him figuring things out.

As with the other pups he has a great time with other dogs, and is cautious with most new people, though there are times when he greets a stranger like an old friend.

Obi is our first pup that has always enjoyed being groomed and has no problem being dremeled, and generally poked and prodded all over.

Obi is happy to be anywhere as long as he’s with his people (and they have food). And we are loving our 90lb lapdog…

Happy Birthday to the 10 + 10 !! Moonshadows and Bright Stars.”

Thank you, Linda, for the fun update and great photos. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OBI!!

In the Moonshadows, I see so much of their wonderful father, Pippin. This photo, swiped by Tara’s Facebook page, captures what I love about Pippin — he is a beautiful Versatility Dog with a superb temperament…

I am thrilled that Pippin sired Daisy’s second and last litter. What fabulous puppies!

Our Birthday Updates are not over yet — so order your cookies and keep your party hats on…
